Our History
From the first Astro rolling off the production line to today's thriving community, explore the rich history of these iconic vans.
The Beginning
The Chevrolet Astro van was first introduced as General Motors' entry into the compact van market. Designed to compete with the Ford Aerostar and Chrysler minivans, the Astro offered a unique rear-wheel-drive platform that set it apart from its front-wheel-drive competitors.
Evolution & Innovation
By 1990, the Astro had established itself as a reliable workhorse in the American van market. General Motors introduced all-wheel drive as an option, making the Astro one of the few vans available with this capability.
Legacy Begins
The final year of Astro production marked the end of an era, but also the beginning of its transformation into a cult classic. As General Motors discontinued the Astro in favor of more modern designs, existing owners began to appreciate what they had.
Community Thrives
